Pandy’s Picks: June 18 M

by Bob Pandolfo

Bob Pandolfo offers his picks for the $75,000 Pick-4 at Meadowlands Racetrack on June 18, part of the USTA Strategic Wagering program.

Meadowlands Pick-4, Races 6-9, Saturday, June 18, 2011

After 14 nights of Pick-4 selections at the Meadowlands I’m down $306 and haven’t hit a Pick-4. I had a good night last night with six top winners and several exactas. In my $16 Pick-4 ticket my single won but I missed two of the legs. Nice card tonight with a lot of 10 horse fields. I’m staying with modestly-priced tickets, $24 tonight.

$1 play: 27/210/68/4810 = $24

Analysis:

Race 6: (2) Bettor Again came off a 20 month layoff to win easily full of pace in his 4-year-old debut; he steps up but I think he has a shot to upset. I’m also using (7) Foreign Officer who has done good work at this track. Several are dropping here so this is a tough N/W $17,000 field.

Race 7: (2) Hit Away steps up sharp looking for three in a row off the Jordan Rubin reclaim. (10) Giddy Up Delight might be better on a small track but he is fast and has been facing tougher.

Race 8: (6) Four Starzzz King has finished second in similar spots last three times out but the 28-time veteran certainly knows how to win. (8) Veal Marsala ships in for the sharp Allard barn and drops to a realistic spot, has good speed.

Race 9: (10) Great Vintage turned in a good effort from post seven in a New York Sire Stakes at Monticello; the 3-year-old faces older here but could be set for a big try for a hot barn. (4) Keep Going steps up sharp and has the best current form. (8) High Wire Kat raced wide against tougher in his first start here and had willing late pace.
