Mojo Terror, Some Girls Do dominate at Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NJ — Mojo Terror was the only repeat winner in round two of the Junior Trendsetter series for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers on Thursday night at Meadowlands Racetrack.

Mojo Terror posted his third straight win for trainer Michael Hall in a division of the Junior Trendsetter series.

With Hall of Fame driver John Campbell in the sulky, Mojo Terror moved to the front early, relinquished command before the half and drew off when released in the stretch to a 1:52.3 score. Hot Shot Lawyer was 1-3/4 lengths behind in second, while Steal The Diamonds faded to third after carving the middle fractions.

Mojo Terror returned $8.80 as he posted his third straight win for trainer Michael Hall and Bulletproof Enterprises of Boca Raton, FL. The son of Western Terror-Winning Mojo is now four for nine lifetime with earnings of $23,850. Mojo Terror is the only contender eligible for a series sweep in the Junior Trendsetter final on February 19.

Second time starter Cobalt Man and Woodbine shipper Dapper Denzil captured the remaining $12,500 Junior Trendsetter splits. David Miller grabbed his third winner of the night with Cobalt Man, who rallied off cover to best Shark Waves by a head in 1:52.4. Chris Ryder trains and co-owns the son of Rocknroll Hanover-Lady Indigo with the Creative Racing Stable of Central Islip, NY and Alycon Stable of Brigantine, NJ.

Dapper Denzil, also steered by Miller, picked up a perfect second-over trip behind the favorite Joe Palz and zipped home in a final :25.4 quarter for the upset. Joe Palz gamely edged the pacesetter I’m Feelin Good for second. Dapper Denzil notched his third win in five starts this season for Arnold Marks of Smith Falls, Ontario. Trainer Jeff Gillis sent the son of Red River Hanover-Dancin Desire to the Ken Rucker barn for his Meadowlands campaign.

Some Girls Do romped off cover to win the first of two $12,500 Tender loving Care series splits with Brian Sears in the sulky.

The Tender Loving Care series for 3-year-old fillies also continued Thursday night. Ron Burke trainee Some Girls Do romped off cover to win the first of two $12,500 splits with Brian Sears in the sulky. After a change in bridle (blind to open) and driving bit, the swift-footed daughter of American Ideal-Village Green paced to a lifetime best 1:54. Gordys Filly Yenta and Studio Queen were the best of the rest. Burke, Bruscemi and Baldachino’s Some Girls Do is perfect in three starts this season. The only filly in position for a series sweep, she looms the one to beat in the Tender Loving Care final on February 19.

Sagebrush Susie came first up and charged past the leader to a career best 1:53.3 clocking in the second Tender Loving Care division. Hello Camie tracked the winner the whole way around to finish second, while pacesetter Mystical Diva faded to third. Sagebrush Susie, trained by Mark Urycki, has now won four of seven career starts. Marvin Hill of Panama City, FL owns the daughter of Red River Hanover-My Best Girl.
