LR Dancing Dream glides to victory in Jersey Girls

East Rutherford, NJ — LR Dancing Dream extended her streak to four straight wins in the $20,000 second round of the Jersey Girls Series on Thursday night (April 8) at Meadowlands Racetrack.

LR Dancing Dream was a 1:50.4 winner in the second leg of the Jersey Girls.

LR Dancing Dream laid in wait as Mid-Western Jatelo led the field through torrid fractions of :27.2, :54 and 1:21.2 before fading to the back of the pack. Driver Brian Sears angled LR Dancing Dream off cover at the head of the lane and she drew off to a career best 1:50.4 clocking. Harper Lee was three-quarters of a length behind in second, while World Fame held third after making a mild stretch bid. Sent off as the 3-5 favorite in the 11-horse field, LR Dancing Dream paid $3.20.

LR Dancing Dream has now won four of 13 starts this season for trainer Lou Pena and owner KDM Stables Corp. of Farmingdale, N.Y. She surpassed $150,000 in earnings with the victory.

The 4-year-old daughter of Ft Apache Hanover-Speeding Bunny looms the one to beat in the $65,800 Jersey Girls Final on Friday, April 16.

Lucky Jim, Zenyatta defend streaks on Friday

Superstars on both sides of racing will put their lengthy winning streaks on the line Friday night.

Lucky Jim bids for a record 17 straight wins at the Meadowlands in the $50,000 second round of the Su Mac Lad Series, while Zenyatta goes for her 16th career victory in the Grade I Apple Blossom at Oaklawn Park. Meadowlands first race post time is 7 p.m., while the simulcast of Zenyatta’s race at Oaklawn is slated for 7:25 p.m. (EDT).

Lucky Jim is the 7-5 morning line favorite from post seven in the tenth race feature. In a thrilling showdown, the 2009 Older Trotter of the Year held off Enough Talk to win the first leg of the Su Mac Lad in 1:52.1.

Meadowlands parking advisory for Saturday, April 10

New Meadowlands Stadium will host its grand opening event, the Konica Minolta Big City Classic for lacrosse, on Saturday, April 10.

As with all stadium events, Meadowlands Racetrack guests may obtain a parking refund when they present a receipt at the Paddock Level program stand. Guests, horsemen and employees should allow for extra travel time to the Meadowlands sports complex that day.
