Unbeaten filly headlines Sunday card at Delaware

Delaware, OH — Unbeaten Hawk’s Cry Electra headlines Sunday’s (Sept. 20) opening race program at the Delaware County Fair when she faces eight rivals in the $55,834 Ohio Breeders Championship for 2-year-old pacing fillies. Sunday’s 16-race program will begin at 12 noon.

The daughter of Mantacular copmes off a 1:55.2 victory in the $80,000 Ohio Sires Stakes Championship at Northfield Park and could sweep Ohio’s Triple Crown. Hawks Cry Electra earlier had won the Ohio State Fair Stake in 1:54.3 at Scioto Downs. The undefeated filly is owned by Joseph Muscara and trained by Virgil Morgan.

Up Front Cruiser, runner-up to Hawks Cry Electra at Northfield, is also in Sunday’s Ohio Breeders Championship. Lullaby Til Dawn, who finished third in the OSS Championship, will also start.

Raymond B. Austin Post 115 to be honored Sunday

The Raymond B. Austin American Legion Post 115, Delaware, Ohio, Dept. of Ohio, will be honored in the winner’s circle following Sunday’s fourth race on opening day at the Delaware County Fair.

Delaware American Legion members have been selling race programs since 1947, a total of 61 years. Members of Post 115 will gather in the winner’s circle for the ceremony.
