by Leon Zimmerman, for the New Jersey Sire Stakes

Trenton, NJ — Hall of Famer Cat Manzi drove Salazar to his fourth consecutive victory in New Jersey Sire Stakes Green Acres competition for 3-year-old pacing colts and geldings in 1:55.3 on Wednesday (Sept. 16) at Freehold Raceway.

His four-for-four winning streak made the gelded son of McArdle-January Spur the top point earner eligible for the $35,000 NJSS Green Acres Championship Final on Sept. 25. His $20,000 in purse earnings in these races raised his earnings to $47,359 so far this year and $56,929 overall.

It was the seventh victory in 17 races this year for Salazar, who is trained by John Wagner for co-owners John and Frank Denison.

Finishing second in the fourth preliminary leg of the Green Acres series at Freehold was Redneck Riviera (Red River Hanover-Cape Matteras). Andy Miller drove the colt for trainer Erv Miller and co-owners Heidi Miller, Carol Reynolds, Benita Simmons and Nick Barbieri.

Redneck Riviera was the second highest point earner in the series with one victory and three second-place finishes.
