Malabar Man has emergency scrotal hernia surgery

by Leigh Nichol, for Winbak Farm

Chesapeake City, MD — Winbak stallion Malabar Man underwent emergency surgery for a scrotal hernia at New England Equine Practice in Patterson, N.Y, on Saturday, June 13.

At this time Winbak Farm of New York can report that Malabar Man is in stable condition and is doing well. Due to the severity of the operation and time needed for his full recovery, Malabar Man will no longer be available for stallion services for the remainder of the 2009 breeding season.

Malabar Man was voted to the Hall of Fame in 2008 as well as producing the 2008 2-Year-Old Trotting Filly of the Year, Honorable Daughter; undefeated $175,000 NYSS colt champion Donttellmywife; and $175,000 NYSS filly champion She’s So Savvy.

Malabar Man himself was an incredible racehorse, making over $2 million and being voted 2-Year-Old and 3-Year-Old Trotting Colt of the Year, as well as being voted Horse of the Year at three.
