Dover, DE — Dingy’s Party just got up at the wire to nip Allmar Surprise in the $32,000 Open Trot on Wednesday at Dover Downs. Tony Morgan and Ross Wolfenden dominated the program. Morgan drove five winners for the second straight day, while Wolfenden added four wins.

Dingy’s Party rallied in the lane to win the Open Trot at Dover Downs.

Jim Morand moved owner-trainer Tom Clendining’s Dingy’s Party three wide turning for home and had just enough to catch Vic Kirby-driven Allmar Surprise in the final step to score a 1:54.2 victory in the week’s featured trot.

Allmar Surprise led from the start with Stiletto and Sean Bier charging up after the quarter. The duo slugged it out head-to-head until the final turn. The hard-pressed Allmar Surprise battled Spunky Vic, driven by Ross Wolfenden, in the stretch before coming up short to Dingy’s Party in the final steps. Spunky Vic held on for third.

The win was the second of the year for Dingy’s Party, a Party Party-Imp’s Flirt gelding.

Tuna Whip was on the menu in the $22,000 sub-featured trot and did not disappoint. Tony Morgan moved the Tagliabue-Harmonious Lady ridgling into the lead and led at every station for an easy three length, 1:56 triumph. It was the second win for owner PT Stable and trainer Mike Hall. Twelve Seventeen closed strongly to finish second with Jack Parker, Jr. Jobo Da’shabra and Roger Plante were the show finishers.

Three straight for Wen-Mars Memo at The Meadows

Meadow Lands, PA — Spring to the lead, back down the fractions, sprint home. Wen-Mars Memo has that formula down pat and she used it again on Wednesday at The Meadows to capture her third consecutive race, the $25,000 Filly & Mare Preferred Trot.

Eric Ledford guided the 5-year-old daughter of Carry The Message-Lightly Sakra through a front half of :59. Although the sloppy surface took a heavy toll on most early speed over the 13-race card, Wen-Mars Memo clicked off the final half in :57, scoring easily in 1:56. Wizard Springs raced well first over to be second by 2-1/2 lengths while Lavec Dream rallied for show.

Donnie Russell trains Wen-Mars Memo and owns with Edward Needle.

Ashcos Scotty upsets at Isle Pompano Park

Pompano Beach, FL — Ashcos Scotty ($16.60) was able to race first-over, collar pacesetter Pure Jesse and post a three-quarter length triumph in winning the $8,500 featured trot on Wednesday at the Isle Pompano Park.

Pure Jesse and driver Kevin Wallis were able to take the early lead away from Tropical Bay (Dan Clements) after the opening quarter in :28.2. From there he led to the half-mile marker in :58 as driver David Ingraham came on the outside to challenge with Ashcos Scotty.

Pressing the leader to the three-quarters in 1:28.1, Ashcos Scotty continued to grind it out until Pure Jesse gave it up as they started down the stretch. Ashcos Scotty then was able to hold off Rovasreadytorumble (Wally Hennessey) and Express Messenger (Anthony Napolitano) to win in 1:57.4.

It was the second win this year for Ashcos Scotty, a 12-year-old gelded son of Earl. Owned by Anthony Chiniara, Ashcos Scotty is trained by Leon Cable.

Getthemoney cops weekly trotting feature at Monticello

Monticello, NY — It only took Getthemoney a couple of minutes to wire the field in Monticello Raceway’s winners over trot on Wednesday afternoon.

An especially good horse during the cold weather season, Getthemoney, a former award winner here as both a 2-year-old and 3-year-old, turned back a solid field of the best trotters on the grounds in a time of 2:00 for the meet’s leading driver Bruce Aldrich, Jr. Witch And Famous (Brent Holland), who came into the event off a 2:00, wire-to-wire victory at Yonkers Raceway in his last start, finished second, despite a perfect two-hole journey the entire mile. Third place went to Heidi Falls (Claude Huckabone III), last week’s winner in this class.

Aldrich wasted no time sending Getthemoney to the front from the three post and the 7-year-old Credit Winner gelding had command on the first turn as Witch And Famous settled in behind the leader at that point. From there it was catch me if you can and nobody could, especially when Getthemoney poured it on in the lane and rebuffed the strong challenge from Witch And Famous to score a three-quarter length triumph.

“Last week we finished second, beat a head by Heidi Falls, but since the beginning of last December Getthemoney has four wins, three seconds and a third in eight starts,” Aldrich said after his victory. “He’s really good during this time of the season but he’s also a pretty nice horse all year round.”

Owned by the Sea Horse Farms Inc. and trained by Betsy Phillips, Getthemoney paid $4.90 for win.
