Pompano Beach, FL — Shytown Lightning ($14.20) and driver Andy Santeramo battled every step as they paced for home to take top honors in the $16,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace in 1:54 on Tuesday at the Isle Pompano Park.

Shytown Lightning (#3) won by a head over Lucy Lucy in the Fillies & Mares Open Pace.

David Ingraham and Golden Falcon N went right to the lead to take the top pacers through fractions of :27.3, :56.4 and 1:25.

Santeramo pulled Shytown Lightning from the pocket as they turned for home and went head to head with Golden Falcon N, but it was a three way battle when Lucy Lucy (Anthony Napolitano) pulled two wide.

Shytown Lightning didn’t give up and was able to hang on for the win by a head over Lucy Lucy, with Golden Falcon N finishing third.

It was the first win of the year in three starts for the 5-year-old Artsplace mare who is trained by Julie Bishop for the J L Benson Stables.

Andy Santeramo had a driving triple on the evening card. He also won with Neptune T for trainer Donald Glowacki, who co-owns with Jamie Marra, and with Dalliers Delight for trainer-owner Danny Rosario.
