Happy Dreamer wins Green Acres Final

by Carol Hodes, for the New Jersey Sires Stakes

Freehold, NJ — Happy Dreamer turned in a gusty effort to win the $35,000 New Jersey Sires Stakes Green Acres Final for 2-year-old filly pacers on Thursday (September 27) at Freehold Raceway.

Driver Pat Berry committed the filly to a move to the lead, leaving from post eight, and was parked for half a mile until she reached the top. She then drew off to a 5-1/4 length victory in 1:56.4.

The daughter of McArdle–I’m Not Dreamin, sent off as the 2-5 favorite, paid $2.80, $2.40, $2.10 as she picked up her second straight victory. She has now finished in-the-money in all four of her starts and has banked $23,840.

Necessary Element ($3.00, $2.60), a daughter of Red River Hanover, cut the early fractions and held on for second, edging out Paint Wheel ($2.80), an Artiscape filly, who was third.

Happy Dreamer, bred and owned by Lomangino Standardbreds of Tinton Falls, N.J., is trained by Julie Miller. Mrs. Miller was in the sulky when Happy Dreamer set a Green Acres freshman filly record of 1:55.4 on September 20.
