Campbellville, ON — Canada’s ‘Queen’ of racing may not be back to defend her Maple Leaf Trot title this Saturday night (September 15) at Mohawk Racetrack, but she will be a big part of the festivities.

Peaceful Way, who won last year’s edition in a masterpiece performance, will be on hand at Mohawk Saturday and will be honored during a retirement ceremony following the post parade of the fifth race.

A video tribute, highlighting many of her memorable moments on the racetrack, will also be shown during the evening. Peaceful Way retired recently as the richest Canadian-bred trotter of all time with more than C$3.2 million earned.

Members of the Toronto Maple Leafs’ alumni will also be at Mohawk Saturday to meet and greet fans. Former greats Johnny Bower, Bill Derlago, Lou Franceschetti, Gary Leeman and Jim Pappin will be on hand for an autograph session from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with personal player cards available for everyone.

Greg Blanchard and Mike Hamilton will also host a ‘meet and greet’ seminar from 6:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. with special guest Jimmy Takter. The Swedish-born veteran will send out four starters in Saturday’s C$1 million Canadian Trotting Classic Final as he looks for his third training victory in the event.
