Weather fails to stop Hardy

by Jack Ginnetti

Marlborough, MA — As much needed rain made its way into much of the Bay State on Tuesday, it didn’t bother Jim Hardy, Plainridge’s leading driver.

Hardy visited the winner’s circle three times over a track rated as “sloppy” to up his meet leading driver total by some 20 wins over his closest rival, Mike Eaton, who along with Kevin Switzer, Jr., had two winners on the nine-race card.

Hardy started things off with a blanket win in the second race with RC Dynasty, sent off at 21-1, who outlasted Miles Moving and Chips Blaze. He finished the day with wins in the last two races with Drinkathedersons in the eighth, and a head win with A Place To Kiss in the nightcap.

Hardy, who is also ranked fourth in the trainer standings, is seeking his second driving championship at the Plainville, Mass. oval. He won the crown in 1999, the track’s first season of racing.

Racing continues on Thursday (September 13) with a 1:00 p.m. post time.
