Two-fer for Jamieson in Champlain Stakes

CAMPBELLVILLE, ON – Jody Jamieson made it two-for-two when he and Roberts Rage destroyed the field in the second of three C$113,883 divisions of the Champlain Stakes for 2-year-old pacing colts at Mohawk Saturday night.

In a repeat of his winning strategy in the first Champlain Stakes division earlier tonight, Jamieson hustled his colt to the front early, in 26.4, with Alard Hanover (Luc Ouellette) tucked in behind along with Allamerican Dice (Ron Pierce). With a 30 second quarter breather, Roberts Rage easily slipped into fifth gear at the three-quarter pole and rocketed away from his competition, opening up an effortless 5-3/4 length lead by the wire, with Jamieson sitting chilly in the bike.

Mike Vanderkemp trainee Pro Art, driven by Dave Miller, stepped up for second and Allamerican Dice managed third for Susanne Kerwood. The winning time was 1:52.2.

Roberts Rage, an Artsplace colt out of the Cams Card Shark mare, Michelles Revenge, is another student of Carl Jamieson’s. Jamieson also owns the colt in conjunction with Tom Kyron, Fred Brayford, and the George Arthur Stable.

“He’s a nice colt and he’s been on his game all along,” says the senior Jamieson. “Last week he went in 1:52 and change under cover and this week 26.4 in the final quarter, which is pretty amazing.”
