Digital Z Tam is impressive in Lexington

Lexington, KY — Digital Z Tam turned in yet another snappy victory in his $20,000 Kentucky Sires Stake leg at The Red Mile on Thursday night, August 23. Mike Lachance drove him to a 1:50.1 win over the lightning-fast red clay miler.

Sent off at odds of 2-5, Digital Z Tam rolled to a 3-1/2 length score with a final panel in :26.3. Pat Lachance trains for MJGB Racing Stable. Digital Z Tam, a 3-year-old Cambest colt, has now won four straight starts.

Digital Z Tam is now the fastest foal out of Matt’s Sunshine. He is her seventh straight $100,000-winning foal with earnings of $207,875. Matt’s Sunshine’s other get includes Monsoon Hall p,1:50.4 ($821,616).

Last week Real Class finished six lengths behind in second to Digital Z Tam. This week he rolled to a 1:50 win in another KYSS leg for sophomore colt pacers. Dave Palone tallied one of his five wins aboard Real Class, a Real Desire colt trained by Eric Reese for Robert Boni.

Soggy Britches and My Fave Wave faced off again in a $25,000 KYSS leg for sophomore filly pacers. This week Soggy Britches and Palone beat out My Fave Wave and Andy Miller in 1:50.2. Soggy Britches, a filly by Allamerican Ingot, shows a card of eight wins and three runners-up in 11 lifetime starts for trainer Mike Medors and owner-breeder Emerald Highlands Farm.

Mind Boggling and Palone hooked up again to win the other $25,000 KYSS leg for pacing fillies in 1:51.3. A filly by Cambest, trained by Ross Croghan, Mind Boggling posted a sub-:27 final quarter for the third consecutive week. She is owned by Let It Ride Stables and Mentally Stable.

Likeavirgin Lindy grabbed the lone $50,000 KYSS split for filly trotters over a courageous Godiva Hall. Ron Pierce, who was in town to pilot Donato Hanover to a 1:51.3 qualifying win, stole the race with Likeavirgin Lindy after Godiva Hall missed the gate. Godiva Hall spotted the field a dozen lengths at the start but rallied tenaciously to lose by a nose in 1:54.1.

Likeavirgin Lindy, a Like A Prayer filly, is trained by Noel Daley for Adam Victor and Son Stable.

Pierce picked up another KYSS win with Western Prayer in the lone $50,000 leg for colt trotters. Western Prayer, also by Like A Prayer, trotted in 1:55.4 for trainer Steve Elliott and owners Jonas, Marlin and Jacob Graber.

Benns Superman swiped a $20,000 KYSS leg for colt pacers in 1:51.2. Mike Lachance picked up the drive on the Real Desire colt and steered him past 1-5 favorite Priceless Edition in the stretch. Lachance won a KYSS leg with Priceless Edition last week at 6-1 odds.

Benns Superman is trained by Henry Lunsford and co-owned by Paul Spadafore and Gary Baldwin.

On the undercard, the 3-year-old pacing gelding Pro Kid posted a solid 1:51 win in a $6,000 Early Closer leg. Pro Kid, by Pro Bono Best, was driven by Tony Hall for owner-trainer-breeder Mark Goldberg.

The Red Mile hosts a 13-race card this Sunday, August 26. Post time will be 6:30 p.m.
