‘Sophie’, ‘Rudee’ headline Open Pace at Rosecroft

by Daina Kazmaier, Rosecroft Publicity Office

Ft. Washington, MD — Both Kellytuck Sophie and Drivin’ Miss Rudee look promising in the $8,000 Open Pace for fillies and mares at Rosecroft Raceway on Saturday, August 25, and are set to open on the board at 6-5 and 7-5 odds, respectively, in the tenth race of the evening.

Kellytuck Sophie will start from the rail with Jeff Fout in the sulky. The 5-year-old Cam’s Magic Trick mare has been competing in upper-level classes at Harrah’s Chester recently with some success. On August 6, she finished third in 1:52.1, and was only one length off of the winner. “Bib” Roberts trains the winner of nearly $200,000 lifetime for himself and co-owners Graham Grace Stable LLC and the M&W Stable LLC.

From post four, Drivin’ Miss Rudee will attempt a repeat victory at this level. Last week, with Donnie Russell in the bike, the 5-year-old Walton Hanover mare took the lead at the quarter pole to win in 1:54.1. Co-owned by William Camp, Jr. and trainer John Sumner, the mare has been on the board in her last three starts. Russell will again drive.

Rounding out the field are Badlands Cowgirl (Wayne Long, 8-1), Gen-U-Wine Raider (Kelly Staten, 6-1) and Mymymylookatherfly (Victor Kirby, 8-1).

Post time for Saturday’s 13-race card is 7:20 p.m.
