POMPANO BEACH, Fla. – For the second consecutive week, the 4-year-old mare Red White Blues prevailed in the female pacing feature from Pompano Park, capturing Friday’s $15,500 Fillies and Mares Winners Over Handicap Pace in a seasonal best 1:52.1.

Red White Blues was driven aggressively from post five by her trainer Bruce Ranger, taking the early lead in the Friday feature while sprinting through an opening quarter mile that went in :27.

RED WHITE BLUES (#5), driven by Bruce Ranger, holds of MY METALLICA (#6) and Wally Hennessey to win the featured $15,500 Fillies and Mares Winners Over Handicap Pace at Pompano Park on Friday in 1:52.1.

As the pacers moved by the grandstand for the first time, Red White Blues grudgingly yielded the top spot to My Metallica (Wally Hennessey), but Ranger was not content to sit the pocket and quickly angled his mare off the pylons to reclaim the front, taking the field through middle fractions of :57 and 1:24.

Red White Blues entered the stretch with a 1-1/4 length advantage and faced one more challenge down the lane from My Metallica, who made a late charge down the center of the track but missed by a neck at the wire.

Red White Blues returned $3.20, $2.10 for the victory, while My Metallica paid $2.20 for second. There was no show wagering available on the race.

After visiting the winner’s circle just once in her first 11 outings of the year, Red White Blues has prevailed in each of her last two starts since shipping to South Florida from the Meadowlands in mid-June.

Owned by the Fred Monteleone Stable LLC of Pompano Beach, Red White Blues boosted her career bankroll to $67,496 with her victory in the Friday feature.
