Armbro Copenhagen trumps ladies in Saratoga Open

by Shelley Blake, for Saratoga Gaming and Raceway

Saratoga Springs, NY — A horse, a gelding and four mares lined up behind the gate in the featured Open Trot at Saratoga Gaming and Raceway on Friday night, June 15. The odds were in the ladies’ favor, but it was a gelding that stole the show.

Jay Randall sent Armbro Copenhagen to the lead around the galloping favorite, Khifra Hanover, who misfired off the gate. From there it was all downhill for Ambro Copehagen as the 5-year-old gelding was never challenged, winning by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:57.1. Ackbro Ms Perfect and Scott Mongeon followed the leader from the start and held second, while Off The Wall got up for third.

Trained by Ray Schnittker and owned by Schnittker, Earl Scheelar, Jack Adkins and Kelk’s Inc., Armbro Copehagen has five wins in 16 starts this season.

Racing resumes on Saturday (June 16) at Saratoga. Post time is 7:00 p.m.
