Southwind Tempo [$4.20, $2.80, $2.80] crushed her foes by nearly 10 lengths in the $60,000 Tender Loving Care Final for three-year-old pacing fillies on Friday night at the Meadowlands.

Driven by Tim Tetrick, Southwind Tempo motored up to the lead past the half and quickly accelerated away from the field en route to a stakes record 1:51.4 win in the evening’s featured seventh race. Striptease Hall [$3.00, $2.40] was second best, while Amber Blue Chip [$7.60] claimed the show spot.

A three-year-old daughter of Bettor’s Delight, Southwind Tempo is owned by driver-trainer Toby Lynch of Delmar, Delaware. She is racing under the care of Steve Elliott at the Meadowlands. A scant $3,500 yearling purchase at the 2005 Blooded Horse Sale in Ohio, she has now won six of seven career starts for $56,575 in earnings.

The victory was the second Meadowlands stakes win in six days for Tetrick, who also won the $76,000 Senior Trendsetter Final with Tiger Tinch on Sunday.

“After her race last week, Toby called me and asked if I’d like to drive her,” Tetrick said. “When she raced at Dover, she was very impressive there. When she came here, Toby drove her the first time or two and she raced really good. I was kind of worried about the nine-hole, but it did work out good. Toby told me she could go really fast and he hadn’t exposed her yet. He said, ‘If you want to race her tonight, race her.’ I think he’ll be happy with her, she went a big trip. She wasn’t done, that’s the amazing thing about her. Mr. Elliott said she’s as good as some of the best fillies he’s sat behind.”
