East Rutherford, NJ – Mysterious Dragon [$70.40, $17.60, $4.80] posted her first victory in seven weeks, in the process snapping two winning streaks, in a $12,500 division of the second round of the White Ruffles Series, the fifth race on Thursday night at the Meadowlands.

It was a three-way charge to the wire as Mysterious Dragon prevailed in a photo by a nose over 6-5 favorite Up Front Jan-E-Lu [$4.00, $2.10] who had won nine in a row. Ima Sporty Lady [$2.20], who had won three in a row, cut the mile and held on for third, a neck back.

The time of the mile was 1:54.1.

Mysterious Dragon, driven by Daniel Dube and trained by Mark Silva, races for Mervin and Kelly Chupp of Crete, Illinois. The four-year-old daughter of Dragon Again posted her first win in three starts this year. She last reached the winner’s circle in a leg of the Snow Angel Series on November 30 at the Meadowlands.

In two earlier divisions of the White Ruffles for four-year-old mares, carded as the first and third races, winning efforts were turned in by Wish Of A Lifetime, driven by Cat Manzi and trained by Steve LeBlanc, and Vue, driven by Yanick Gingras and trained by John McDermott.

The top 10 money earners in the first two rounds of the series advance to the $50,000 White Ruffles Final on January 25.

Hall of Famer Mike Lachance had to scratch off his six mounts for the night when he suffered a cut on his thumb that required medical attention.
