Marlborough, MA — The Monday (Nov. 27) racing program at Plainridge Racecourse features one of the largest purse cards of the meet as the 2006 season comes to a close on Nov. 28.

Race Secretary Paul Verrette has put together a Nov. 27 program that features $75,000 in purse money highlighted by two purses for pacers worth $12,000 and $10,000, respectively. In fact, the lowest purse on the afternoon card is $5,000.

Tuesday’s finale will feature 12 races, including a pace and a trot which will be run for a purse of $10,000 each.

The last race on the track’s 100th race program features a $3,500 pace named for the New England Amateur Drivers Club featuring the likes of Bill Abdelnour, Jeff Gulya (whose horse J K Jake will be retired at the end of this racing season), ‘Bullet’ Bob Lieberman, Marc Bouthillier and Tom Eaton.

Track officials will also be making their year-end awards Tuesday, and the New England Harness Writers Association will present Lieberman with the chapter’s ‘Iron Man’ Award.

Post time for both days is 1 p.m.
