EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – November 18, 2006 – It was a happy 42nd birthday for trainer Mark Silva who sent out three winners, including two – Boulder Creek and Marnie Hall – in the Classic Series on Saturday night at the Meadowlands.

Vivid Photo, Lavec Dream, Marnie Hall and Boulder Creek each won an $85,000 division of the Classic Series. The top eight point-earners in each division will advance to four $250,000 Classic Finals on Monday, November 27 at Dover Downs.

Marnie Hall [$13.00, $6.00, $2.20] was the upset winner of the Classic Distaff for pacing mares, the fifth race.

Driver Dan Dube tried a change in strategy, putting Marnie Hall on the lead down the backstretch. The four-year-old daughter of Blissfull Hall held off the challenge of Burning Point [$4.20, $2.10] for a nose victory in 1:50.4.

Glowing Report [$2.10], the 3-5 favorite, had her six-race winning streak snapped, finishing a half-length back in third.

“We never tried [the front], but I said at this point we should take a shot and she’s good now,” said Dube. “She held on with those horses. Mark [Silva] got her ready. She showed she was good.”

Marnie Hall races for Daniel Plouffe of Bedford, Quebec. She has nearly $500,000 in earnings this year with five wins, seven seconds and two thirds from 20 starts.

Dube, who also won the fourth race with White Hot Cards, was back in the winner’s circle in the sixth race with Boulder Creek [$18.20, $5.20, $3.00] found room off the pylons in mid-stretch and came four-wide to win by three-quarters of a length over Stonebridge Regal [$3.80, $3.00] in 1:49.4.

“I sat [on the rail] third through the middle of the stretch,” said Dube. “When I moved him, he was so good.”

Holborn Hanover $2.80] was a length and a half back in third while Casimir Camotion, who cut the fractions, held on for fourth in the four-way photo.

Boulder Creek, a six-year-old gelded son of Pacific Rocket, was the Older Pacer of the Year in 2005 and the Classic Series Final winner but this was only his fifth win in 22 starts t his year. The $2.5 million earner races in the name of New Yorkers Cliff Siegel, Lee Wasserman and John Fodera.

Silva’s first winner of the night came with Ideal Michael in the first race, a division of the Oil Burner Series.

Vivid Photo [$6.80, $3.40], driven and trained by co-owner Roger Hammer, took the lead at the half and rebuffed Mr Muscleman in the stretch to win the Trotting Classic, carded as the second race. He trotted the mile in 1:54.4.

The four-year-old gelding, winner of the 2005 Hambletonian, now has six wins three seconds and two thirds in 20 starts this year for earnings of $482,100 toward a career total that is less than $18,000 shy of $2 million.

“I just figured I wanted to be on top when Sand Vic made his move so I could take off,” Hammer said from the winner’s circle. “I figured I’d be on the engine and out foot them home. He’s as good now as he has ever been.”

It was one-length back to Mr Muscleman [$3.40], the defending Trotter of the Year, and another two and a half lengths to Sand Vic in third. There was no show wagering.

Peaceful Way, the 4-5 favorite, broke on the first turn and 6-5 second choice Mystical Sunshine faltered in the stretch of the Classic Oaks for trotting mares, the third race.

Longshot Lavec Dream [$45.60, $8.20, $12.00] sat in the pocket, pulled and passed pacesetter Mystical Sunshine [$2.80, $2.80] for a two and three-quarter-length victory in a lifetime best of 1:54.3.

Solveig [$6.00] got up for third, four lengths back.

Lavec Dream, trained and owned by Peter Kleinhans of Flemington, New Jersey, scored her seventh win of the year, 12 of 25 in the money finishes.

“I was up on the gate and took a shot, hoping to get behind [Mystical Sunshine],” winning driver George Brennan said of his trip. “I knew Peaceful Way made a break in the first turn. The slower he went [Ron Pierce with Mystical Sunshine], the better for me. It kept me brave. He sped off a little bit and got away from me but at the top of the lane I caught him and knew I had him beat.”

In four divisions of the first round of the Oil Burner Series for three-year-old pacers, winning efforts were turned in by Ideal Michael in 1:52.3, driven by Brian Sears and trained by Mark Silva; White Hot Cards in 1:51.2, driven by Daniel Dube and trained by Mark Capone; Headline News in 1:52.3, driven by Sears and trained by Richard Hans and Mizuno in 1:52.3, driven by Yannick Gingras and trained by Mickey Burke.

The top 10 after the first two weeks of prelims will advance to the $55,200 Oil Burner Final on December 2.
