Great George Two rallies for Su Mac Lad victory

Great George Two [$7.20, $5.20, $3.00] rallied four-wide in the stretch and drew off to a length and three-quarter victory over Self Professed [$6.60, $3.80] in the seventh race, the $50,000 second-round of the Su Mac Lad Series on Sunday afternoon at the Meadowlands.

Muscles Marinara [$2.60] was two lengths back in third.

Great George Two, driven by Jonathan Roberts and trained by Bib Roberts, trotted the mile in 1:53.4.

The $126,500 Su Mac Lad Final is on Sunday, April 9.

Great George Two, making only his second start of the season, now has a win and a second for 2006 and 12 wins, six seconds and two thirds in 25 career starts.

The Dexter Cup runner-up at Freehold and winner of the Zweig Trot at Syracuse, he spent most of his three-year-old campaign finishing second or third behind Classic Photo and Vivid Photo.

The four-year-old son of Hobokenbahamamamas – Within Reach has banked $421,944 for the ownership of Graham Grace Stables LLC [Adam Ainspan and Mary Beth Roberts] of Vienna, Virginia; M&W Stables LLC [Thomas Lander] of Burlington, North Carolina and trainer Bib Roberts of Brandywine, Maryland.

MARCH MADNESS ENDS WITH 58 WINS FOR SEARS

Brian Sears’ March Madness at the Meadowlands ended on Friday night with 58 wins, 40 seconds and 32 thirds from 238 starts – a 24 percent win rate – for earnings of $823,232.

Since the first of the year [through March 31], he has 126 wins, 97 seconds and 80 thirds from 613 starts at the Meadowlands and earnings of $1,983,369.
