Hanners wins driving title as Harrington closes

HARRINGTON, Del. – Brad Hanners won his sixth driving title at Harrington Raceway Thursday as the 2005 summer/fall meet came to a close with 15 races.

The 33-year-old Hanners entered the night four wins up on second place Brandon Givens. Givens won the first race with Davids Feisty Lady ($3.00) to pull within three, but Hanners clinched with wins in the ninth and tenth with Rompaway Ruth ($3.20) and Bank Shot ($3.20).

“I have to thank all the trainers and owners I drove for, especially Bobby Clark and Kevin Lare,” said Hanners.

Hanners closed out the meet with 118 wins, while Givens was second with 113. Ross Wolfenden was third with 89.

Les Givens won the training title with 39 wins with Josh Green (33), Chuck Crissman (28) and Kevin Lare (28) rounding out the top three.

New marks for highest single night handle were set on three different occasions during the meet, with the most recent occurring on October 4.

Racing will resume in April of 2006. Specific dates have yet to be determined.
