TORONTO, October 22, 2005 – Extending his career unbeaten streak to five, the 2005 Metro Pace winner, Jeremes Jet ($4.20, $3.20 $2.10) got the job done in the C$697,685 Governor Cup for two-year-old pacers Saturday evening at Woodbine, stopping the clock in 1:53.3 over a sloppy track for driver Paul MacDonell and trainer Tom Harmer.

The much anticipated match up between Jeremes Jet and Palone Ranger failed to materialize, as Palone Ranger, with David Miller in the bike, made a break while racing fifth in the second quarter of the mile, eventually finishing eighth, but placed up to seventh.

Jeremes Jet extended his career unbeaten streak to five.

Artstanding ($8.80, $5.10), who had Mike Lachance in the bike, held the lead briefly in the second quarter, but finished two lengths back in second, bottoming the $44.80 exactor. Western Cyclone ($3.50), who was driven by Brian Sears, finished 4¼ lengths back in third, rounding out the $119.20 triactor.

MacDonell and the son of Western Hanover sat third at the 27-second opening quarter and followed Artstanding – who was sitting second – to the lead. Artstanding cleared to the point and was instantly covered up by Jeremes Jet, who is owned by the Genesis Racing Stable of Plainfield, Illinois.

MacDonell and the speedy bay then reached the half-mile pole in 56 seconds, passed the three-quarters indicator in 1:25.3 and was game all the way to the wire.

“I can’t say enough about my horse,” said MacDonell. “He was just unbelievable tonight. Down the stretch I asked him to pace and he had tons [left]. I think it would’ve been difficult for [Palone Ranger] to beat him anyway.

“I didn’t realize he had made a break,” said MacDonell, referring to Palone Ranger. “I noticed he was a little bit rough leaving the gate. The track isn’t the greatest to get over right now – it’s getting a little torn up, so maybe he was having some difficulty.”

Jeremes Jet is out of the Sportsmaster mare Ohyouprettything.

“As far I know, [Jeremes Jet’s connections] are going to go to the Breeders Crown with him,” said MacDonell. “They’ve asked me to go along, so we’ll wait and see how the next month shapes up.”
