Digzy Dean wins Green Acres Final

Digzy Dean, a gelded son of Muscles Yankee, led from start to finish to win the $35,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Green Acres Divisional Final for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings in1:59.2 at Freehold Raceway September 14.

Hall of Famer Ron Pierce drove the trotter to his fifth victory in 15 starts this year for trainer Mickey Burke and co-owners Sylvia Burke, Frank Indof and Jeffrey Indof. Digzy Dean, who was winless in nine starts last year, boosted his career earnings to $51,267 with the winner’s share of the purse.

The winner, heavily favored at odds of 3-2, finished one length ahead of long-shot runner-up Daley Double, while Corona Bluestone finished three and a quarter lengths back in third.
