Pompano Beach, Florida – May 14, 2005 – Cam In Black ($3.60) showed why he is the top horse at Pompano Park this meet, winning his fifth straight start in the $8,500 Open Handicap Pace at Pompano Park Saturday. Driven by Richard Simard, Cam In Black led from start to finish, winning by one and one-half lengths in 1:52.

The 9th race feature starts off with Simard and Cam In Black shooting out to the lead from post six with Ignite My Fire (Terry Morgan) grabbing the two-hold trip through fractions of :27.3, :56.2 and 1:24.3 when Hot Rum (Anthony Napolitano) and Hearty Fellow (Wally Hennessey) tried coming on the outside.

As they raced down the stretch, Simard was able to open up on the field as Hot Rum edged Ignite My Fire for second place.

It was the 8th race of the year for Cam In Black, a six-year-old gelding by Cambest, who is trained by Jim McDonald for the SSG Stables of North Boston, NY. Cam In Black is now tied with the trotter, Son O’Light, as the two winningest horses this year, each with eight wins.

Harness driver Bruce Ranger continued his dominance as the top driver at Pompano Park this meet, scoring four wins, all with horses from his stable.
