Jason’s Jiffy won his second straight on Tuesday at Plainridge.

Driver Drew Campbell, who had been shut out all afternoon, finally reached the winner’s circle with a bang in the final race. Campbell was aboard Jason’s Jiffy as he won his second consecutive start. The 1:53 effort ranks as the fastest mile of the season thus far at the Plainridge. Jason’s Jiffy is owned by Brian Bickmore and trained by his brother Randy. The front-running Vegas Excalibur (Bob Sumner) held on for the place spot, while Doctor Will (Ron Cushing) finished third.

Shawn Gray, Ron Cushing and Jason Bartlett all visited the winner’s circle twice. Gray and Cushing rank first and third respectively in the Plainridge driving standings. Bartlett, also among the leading drivers at the meet, is the top driver at Scarborough Downs in Maine, and campaigns in the Bay State two days a week.

One of Gray’s victories came in the Open Pace, where the top five horses were separated by just three-quarters of length at the wire. Powerhouse Sahbra, driven by Gray, was a neck better than Prodigal Two (Scott Nichols). Chevie Silverado (Drew Campbell) landed third in the 1:54.2 mile.

Best After Midnite continues to be ultra consistent in the featured $20,000 claiming class. Owned by Scott Dillon and Bob Sumner, Best After Midnite notched his third win in six Plainridge starts, and has yet to miss the board. The 1:53.2 mile equaled the lifetime mark the nine-year-old established at Plainridge last season. Slightly Wild N (Shawn Gray) rallied for second while Arts Unknown (Brad Irvine) notched the show position.

The racetrack showed no ill effects from the heavy rains that pelted the area this past weekend. All told, a dozen horses either established or equaled lifetime marks during the Monday and Tuesday cards.

Racing resumes at Plainridge Racecourse on Thursday afternoon. Post time for the 12 race program is at 4:00 p.m.
