Isle Of Patmos to qualify on Friday

Isle Of Patmos, last year’s leading earner among the two-year-old colt and gelding pacers on the Ontario Sires Stakes Circuit, will begin his three-year-old campaign on Friday morning in a qualifier at Pompano Park.

“He trained in 2:00 on Saturday,” co-owner David Scharf said. “He will qualify on Friday morning at Pompano, and then will ship to Canada to qualify at Mohawk on May 14. His first stakes race is the Burlington (June 4 at Woodbine.)”

As a two-year old, Isle Of Patmos earned $320,177 from 12 starts, which included victories in a division of the Nassagaweya Stakes at Mohawk, his Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series elimination at Mohawk, his elimination and the final of the O.S.S. Gold Series event at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and the Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final at Woodbine, where he took his life’s mark of 1:51.4.

Isle Of Patmos is a son of Astreos, out of the Kiev Hanover mare Banska Bela. He is co-owned by Scharf, Jerry Silva, Sampson Street Stables, and R. Peter Heffering, and he is trained by Mark Capone.

In addition to the Burlington and his Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Series events, he is also eligible to the Pepsi North America Cup at Woodbine and the Confederation Cup at Flamboro Downs.
