Shu Hanover demolishes stakes record in Fox Sports Net Final

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – April 21, 2005 – Shu Hanover [$3.20, $2.20, $2.10] coasted to his fourth straight win and completed a series sweep with a mile in 1:49 in the $46,285 Fox Sports Net Final, the fifth race on Thursday night at the Meadowlands.
The 1:49 mile was a career best and a stakes record, eclipsing the 1:50.1 mark shared by Carlspur [2000] and Art Maker [2003].
Shu Hanover, driven by David Miller, sprinted to the lead before the half with a 26.3 quarter and tossed in a matching 26.3 final quarter for three and a quarter length victory over Whodunit [$2.80, $2.60]. Armbro Barnes [$4.40] was third by four lengths.
Shu Hanover, a four-year-old gelded son of Arturo – Shrewd Lady, picked up his seventh win in 13 and pushed his earnings to $107,242 on the year for the ownership of trainer Ken Rucker of Beecher, Illinois; Jordon M. Sklut of Portage, Indiana and the Centaur Stable of Oak Lawn, Illinois. Lifetime, Shu Hanover has a record of 24 wins, 11 seconds and three thirds from 57 starts and a career bankroll of $165,364.
