Lucky Irma scored a half-length victory over Valley Electric in 1:52.1 in Woodbine’s C$45,000 Fillies and Mares Open Pace Friday evening.

Looking for her fourth consecutive tally, Valley Electric ($2.10, $2.10), who was driven by Mark MacDonald, fired off of Lucky Irma’s back in the lane, but couldn’t get up and therefore settled to bottom out the $19.30 exactor. A 27-1 shot who showed some late pace, Are Those Real ($5.00) and driver Jack Moiseyev finished 2¾-lengths back in third and completed the $164.60 triactor.

Shy Ticket A (Jody Jamieson) laid down the speed in :27.2, :56.1 and 1:24.2, but faded in the stretch over the track which was rated ‘good’.

Magnify This (Paul MacDonell) and Lookettepoedunk (Mike Saftic) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

A homebred of Scarborough, Ontario’s John Christensen who is conditioned by Joe Stutzman, Lucky Irma had sat third through the first half of the race before Christoforou made his victorious move with the five-year-old daughter of Camluck.

Now with four wins in six starts on the season and a 1:50.4 lifetime mark, Luck Irma is out of the Jate Lobell mare Annie Thompson.
