Pompano Beach, FL — Tarport Mark, the oldest horse currently in racing at age 15, became the winningest horse at Pompano Park this year, scoring his 10th victory of season Friday in the third race trot, a division of the Florida Amateur Driving Club Series.

Driven by Dein Spriggs, Tarport Mark led from start to finish in winning by one and one-quarter lengths in 2:01. Spriggs wife, Joyce, of Jupiter, Florida, owns Tarport Mark, who is trained by Luanna Beeson. Tarport Mark paid $3.40 to win. Carlins Speedy (John Campagnuolo) was second with Cruizin (Robert Keeler) third.

Youngbro Fancy and driver Wally Hennessey moved at the quarter pole against early leader Scooby Dee (Allan Johnson) and then led the rest of the mile race to win the second leg of the Seminole Pacing Series for Florida-bred two-year-old fillies in 1:584.

Sired by Matt’s Amore, trained by Dan Hennessey and owned by Jeffery Young of Orange Lake, Florida, it was the first win for Youngbro Fancy, who won by one and three-quarter lengths. Timewaitsfornoone (William Griffin) was second, Baby Doll Scoot (Marc Aubin) third, and the race favorite, Shez A Floridian (Mickey McNichol), was fourth after making a break early in the race. Youngbro Fancy paid $6.80 to win.

Wally Hennessey had the hot hands once again Friday, winning four of the races on the program.

Rush Street Blues ($4.00) was the biggest winner of the night, crushing a field of six rivals in the seventh race Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace for driver John Kakaley (who also posted four driving triumphs) and winning by six open lengths in 1:544. Hurricane Betsy (Stephan Lareau) was second with Buttons ‘N Bows (Marc Aubin) third.

It was the second win this year for the four-year-old mare by No Nukes, who is trained by Robert Williams, Jr. and is owned by Nancy Vander Heyden and Nelson Townsend of Elmhurst, Illinois.

Midgie ($3.40) continued his dominance of the trotting ranks at Pompano Park this season, winning the ninth race Open Handicap Trot for the fourth straight week, this time in 1:574. After taking the lead from Bring It Strong (John Kakaley) after the opening quarter-mile, driver Wally Hennessey kept Midgie on the front for good, winning by three-quarters of a length. Bring It Strong was second with Muscle Boss Vita (Terry Morgan) third.

It was the ninth win on the year for Midgie, a seven-year-old gelding by Donerail, owned by the Knockout Stables of Margate, Florida and trained by Jim McDonald.
