Northfield, OH — Marty Rudicil’s M D Jewel went gate-to-wire in a lifetime best equaling 1:543 on Friday night at Northfield, easily besting the field in a $7,000 Mares Open Pace. Aaron Merriman fired the odds-on favorite to the front and was never challenged. The duo posted fractions of :28, :572 and 1:26 en route to the win. Mattnamerica sat in the pocket for the place spot and Eda Finn outclosed Anita Rush to get the show spot in a tight photo. Rudicil trains the winner, a six-year-old daughter of I D Frost. The win was her fifth in 24 starts this year and pushed her career bankroll to $112,799.
