Shez A Floridian heads Seminole Series on Friday

Pompano Beach, FL — The aptly named She’s A Floridian heads the second round of the 12th annual Seminole Pacing Series for Florida-bred two-year-old fillies on Friday at Pompano Park.

The daughter of Raging Glory, a $3,500 yearling purchase, starts from post four in the fifth race and is the 5-2 favorite for driver Mickey McNichol after winning the opening round of the series in 2:004, leading from start to finish. Shez A Flordian is trained and owned by Joseph Kroll of Lake Worth, Florida.

The seventh race Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace is a wide-open affair with two return winners in the field. ICU N, who won last week’s event, wiring the field in 1:551 for her sixth victory of the season, starts from post five for driver Walter Ross, Jr. Buttons ‘N Bows starts from post seven for driver Marc Aubin and in her last start two weeks back won the Mares Open in 1:55, her third win this year.

Midgie, after a week layoff, goes for his fourth straight win in the Open Handicap Trot on Friday. Handicapped with starting from post seven, the seven-year-old gelding by Donerail sports eight wins on the season for driver Wally Hennessey and is the 4-5 betting favorite. He takes on rival Bring It Strong (post five) who won last week’s top trot by a head over Who’s The Duck (post six) in 1:583.

Pompano Park’s poker room begins its tournament weekends Friday. The track will feature a Texas Holdem tournaments on both Friday and Saturday afternoons every week. Complete rules for the tournaments are on the website at www.pompanopark.com.
