by Lynne Snierson, publicity director, Rockingham Park

SALEM, NH The bragging rights for the best horse on the grounds took another twist at Rockingham Park on Saturday when Glen Mark Lucky tied the overall track record of 1:50.2 that Six of Diamonds set just one week ago. When Six of Diamonds made his mark, he broke the old record Glen Mark Lucky set in June.

Glen Mark Lucky, a six-year-old gelded son of Camluck and the Armbro Emerson mare St. George Sweetie, bested Six of Diamonds and three other horses in the $12,000 Steady Brave Invitational pace to win by 3 1/4 lengths on a fast track. Driven by Mark Beckwith and trained by Brandy Kearns, Glen Mark Lucky also set a new track record for aged geldings when he took one tick of a second off his existing record.

Six of Diamonds, a five-year-old son of Artsplace and the Big Towner mare Two Times Three, was driven by regular partner James Marohn, Jr. and finished third in the race behind West Gun. The horse is Rockingham’s all-time fastest pacing aged stallion with the record of 1:50.2, and now he shares the overall all-time track record with the gelded Glen Mark Lucky.

Six of Diamonds is trained by Francis McCahey and owned by Stuart and Barbara Oppenheimer and Arthur Oppenheimer. Glen Mark Lucky is woned by F&A Fialkow and R. Pilatsky. The intense battle bewteen these two excellent pacers looks to intensify over the coming weeks on the Rockingham Park oval.
