Four-Legged Ken Warkentin wins $25,000 NJSS

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – July 7, 2004 – Ken Warkentin, named for one of the Meadowlands’ announcers, trotted to victory in his racing debut, the sixth race, a $25,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands.

The bay son of Yankee Glide- Jambo, driven by David Miller and trained by Jimmy Takter, trotted the mile in 1:58.2.

Ken Warkentin [$6.20, $4.40, $3.20] coasted to a four and a half-length victory over Worship [$6.40, $3.40]. It was five lengths back to Soriano [$3.40] in third.

The two-legged Ken Warkentin joined owner Christina Takter in the winner’s circle for the victory photo.
