Incredashell Stake headlines Wednesday card

Melrose Park, IL — Illinois-bred two-year-old filly pacers test Maywood Park for the first time this season in Wednesday night’s $10,000 Incredashell Stake.

The stake honors the 1992 Illinois Horse of the Year. Trained by James Banks and driven by Jim Curran, Incredashell was nearly perfect in her freshman season, winning nine of 10 starts, including the $310,000 Orange and Blue Filly Final at Sportsman’s Park, and earning over $200,000 for owner Robert Vernol.

A full field of eight youngsters will vie in the third race feature with Sensuous Woman carrying the role as the 2-1 morning line favorite. Sensuous Woman didn’t draw well with the seven slot in her Maywood Park debut for Illinois owners Lester Banks and Bruce Johnson, however the Cole Muffler filly raced very favorably in the recent Jimmy Sunshine Series at Balmoral Park for Wednesday night’s driver Dave Magee.

Sensuous Woman was second best in her June 14 debut, beaten a little more than a length in the 1:561 mile, and despite being seventh with a quarter mile to go in the final, she rallied to be third with a solid :274 last quarter, two lengths behind the winner.

She’s the ninth offspring of the Nihilator dam Ascot Almahurst, whose seventh foal was Ascot Brandy (1:512), a $15,000 yearling that went on to bank over $244,000.

The 7-2 early second choice is the Double J Racing and Mark Fransen Richess Hanover filly Alldressedinvelvet (Tony Morgan), who paced a strong last half in her winning 2:021 Maywood Park qualifier. The half sister of Fancy Creek Sport (1:493) also drew the advantageous one post for this freshman stake.

Fox Valley Lanita, the first foal of the former Illinois champion Our Golden Promise, is the only other filly besides Sensuous Woman with a couple of pari-mutuel starts to her credit and will open up at 4-1 with driver Jason Dillander for trainer Joel Smith.

Making their debuts are Jezzabell Hotspur (10-1, Pat Berry), Onestretchofbeingrich (5-1, Lance Scurlock), Red Head Tramp (15-1, Mark Saporito), LB Society Angel (8-1, Richard Schrock) and Partly Cloudy (12-1, Pat Wolf).
