Noble Darling deserves respect

by Adam Packard, for the Meadows

Meadow Lands, PA — Dan Charlino is having a breakout year at the Meadows. He ranks fourth in wins with 92 and is sixth in UDR (.266). Although winning consistently, Charlino has been tagged with the nickname Double-Digit Dan. The reasoning behind the nickname comes from Charlino winning with horses that have double-digit odds.

Noble Darling will be looking to continue her success in the Filly and Mare Preferred Pace at The Meadows.

A number of his wins have come from sitting behind Noble Darling. Last week the duo won at 5-1 odds in a non-winners overnight race. This week they’ll take the jump in class to the Filly and Mare Preferred. Yet again the duo is an overlay at morning line odds of 4-1.

The favorite is Almahurst Razzle and driver Dave Palone. In his last effort, she finished fourth in Northfield Park’s Filly and Mare Open. Palone will likely leave for early position and hope to slow down the fractions in the short field of six.

Graceful Interlude had a dull effort last week at Hoosier Park, but returns home for the Mickey Burke Stable. Brian Zendt will drive, as regular driver Mike Wilder is obligated to drive for his father-in-law, Dan Altmeyer. Altmeyer and Wilder had bad luck last week, as Best Not Tell made a break and never recovered. Best Not Tell has post position three and is 5-1 on the morning line.

Kiss The Rain and Exxtasy Spur will also compete.
