21 clash in opening round of Swing Back Series

Freehold, NJ — A total of 21 three-year-old fillies have been entered in three $6,000 divisions of the opening round of the Swing Back Pacing Series at Freehold Raceway on Thursday. The $6,000 second leg will be contested on May 20 and the top eight money earners in the preliminary rounds will return for the $35,000 (est.) final on May 27.

The heavy 4-5 morning line choice in the first division is Robert and Lauren Tucker’s Day After Day. The daughter of Western Hanover is unbeaten in three lifetime starts — all this year — and has earned $22,001. Most recently, she scored a 1:541 win in a $24,002 Pennsylvania Sires Stake event at the Meadows on May 1.

David Miller will handle Day After Day for trainer Ed Lohmeyer. The duo will leave the gate from post four.

Kreplach Hanover, See Life, Free Hand, Presidential Topic, Silver Street and You Buy I’ll Fly complete the field.

Division two is headed by John Cunnington, Jr. and William Karrat’s Keystone Killarney. The lightly-raced Shady Character filly sports a 2-1-0 across the board record this season in five starts.

Keytone Killarney will start from post six as the 3-1 favorite in the early line. Trainer Joe Karrat has named Jeff Gregory to drive.

Rounding out the field are: Powerlicious, Shirlie The Girlie, Gorgeous Lover, LT’s Magic, Epic Venture and Cajun Laagacy.

Joseph Spoto’s Majestic Eagle will open on the board as the 2-1 favorite in the third division of the Swing Back. Unbeaten in four career starts — all at Freehold Raceway this year — the Steve Elliott-trained daughter of Artiscape has drawn the coveted post one and will be guided by Hall of Famer Cat Manzi.

Gambler’s Daughter, Spirit Of The West, Cannae Kissi, Sugar N Sakra, Nanny’s Angel and Cover Girl Hanover comprise the remainder of the field.

First post for Thursday’s 12 race slate at Freehold has been set for 12:30 p.m.
