Hot To Trot fireworks show on Saturday at Pompano

by Steve Wolf, Director of Marketing, Pompano Park

Pompano Beach, FL — Pompano Park Harness Track will feature a unique horse racing fireworks stunt show on Saturday. Australian trainer/driver Vincent Silvestro and his amazing horse, Hand Me Silver, will perform their Hot To Trot fireworks show at 9:00 p.m. on the main track.

Silvestro will drive Hand Me Silver around the racetrack while standing on the shafts of his race bike (Ben Hur style), holding the reins in his teeth, marine boat flares in his hands and proceed to shoot off more than 2,000 rounds of fireworks from the back of his race bike.

Silvestro is the only person in the world who performs this special show and he has done it more than 300 times in Australia and New Zealand and 15 times in the United States. Silvestro actually talks or grunts commands to Hand Me Silver during the event, telling the horse when the next barrage of fireworks are going to take place.

The Hot To Trot show will be broadcast live via simulcasting at all locations that take the Pompano Park signal.

Regal Visitor scores in Valley Victory

Regal Visitor ($2.40) remained unbeaten with his sixth straight victory Friday, wiring the field in the seventh race $6,500 second round division of the Valley Victory Trotting Series, scoring again with ease by three and one-half lengths in 1:58.

“He’s good right now,” said winning driver Wally Hennessey of Regal Visitor. “But I really don’t know how good he can be because he has yet to be tested. He does everything right for the time being and he will be tough to beat in the series.”

The four-year-old stallion by Malabar Man is trained by Charles Beaver and owned by Jayne Cummings and Johanna Beaver of Kentucky and Ohio. County Tim (Kevin Wallis) was second with Breezer Tee (Mark O’Mara) third.

The fifth race first division saw Trotting Intruder ($4.20) and driver Donald DuPont post a lifetime mark of 1:57 after a game first over move in the backstretch and then grinding out a half length victory over Istanbul (Jan Johnson) and Analyst (John Patterson, Jr.).

It was the fourth win in nine starts this year for the four-year-old son of Yankee Glide, who is trained by Marie Dupont and is owned by Ecuries Dupont and the Dupont Horse Racing Stable of Florida and New Hampshire.

Ultimate Sundance ($3.60) posted his second straight win and fourth victory in his past six starts with a tough nose victory over Sweet Count (Tom Sells) in the 11th race $10,000 Open Handicap Trot in 1:561.

Driven by Bruce Ranger, Ultimate Sundance took the early lead away from Lori Louise (Kevin Wallis) by the opening quarter-mile, then held off a game first over effort by Sweet Count all the way down to the finish wire. Lori Louise was also in the photo, but was placed fourth after breaking at the wire.

Jujitsu Hanover ($6.20) was feeling her oats in the ninth race $8,000 Open II Trot as the lone mare in the field was able to take the lead away from CR Royal Rebel (Miram Toland) and then hold off the classy veteran Flashy Message (Bruce Ranger) to win by a neck in a lifetime best 1:562. The four-year-old mare by Donerail, trained and driven to victory by Dewayne Minor and owned by Annemette Minor of Delray Beach, Florida, posted her fourth win this year.
