Toronto, ON — Admirals Express continued his quest to reach the C$1 million plateau on Saturday night at Woodbine, as he rolled to his 43rd career victory during the tenth race, the C$48,000 Junior Free For All Pace. In rein to his regular pilot Paul MacDonell, the son of Admirals
Owned by Cheryl and Gary Gust, along with Laurel and Edward Sayfie (all of Michigan), Admiral’s Express, Woodbine Entertainment’s 2003 Overnight Horse of the Year, now has C$992,320 (US$784,138) in career earnings ($46,056 of which has come this year).
The duo of Waples and McMaster notch three on Saturday
Driver Randy Waples and trainer Kevin McMaster were a force on Saturday night as Woodbine, as they combined to produce three winners on the card.
Waples, who had earlier guided Jeff Gillis student Goin To The Beach to a victory in the second race, hooked up with McMaster in the fifth contest via Medoland Big Sam ($6.10). The pair again met in the winner’s circle after the seventh with Our London Pride N ($9.00), and in the 11th race, Waples stopped the clock with Artistic Wonder ($7.30).
Five winning tickets purchased for Saturday’s Pick 7
There were a total of five winning tickets purchased for Woodbine’s Pick 7 wager on Saturday night, each of which returned a whopping C$106,644.25.
The carryover into Saturday’s program had been C$298,705.77.
Patrons at Windsor Raceway, Kawartha Downs (in Fraserville, Ontario) and two separate Toronto-area teletheatres purchased winning tickets. The last ticket was successfully constructed through an HPI telephone account.
The winning horses were: CR Bellman ($19.60), Seeingisbelieving ($17.90), Medoland Big Sam ($6.10), Camystic ($4.60), Our London Pride N ($9.00), Tycoon Hanover ($6.30) and Supermattural ($15.30). The numbers were 9-5-6-6-9-2-9.
CORRECTION: It had been stated earlier that in the case of Pick 7 not being won, 25% of the net pool would be paid out to the ticket holder(s) with the most correct winners, and the balance be carried over to begin the next day’s races. In fact, it is only 20% of the net pool that would be paid out.
The 25% figure had been based on the Super 7 of the past, and that figure had been readjusted for the Pick 7.
