Toronto, ON — The Big Mac attack has been grounded for the time being, as Paul MacDonell, who has been white-hot as of late, had to book off his Tuesday evening drives due to soreness in his back.

Paul MacDonell (driving Hez Striking) is out of action with a back ailment.

“It first started in the middle of the night (during Monday night’s card of racing from Woodbine) and continued to get worse,” said MacDonell, who over the past five days of racing at Woodbine has racked up nine wins, three seconds and five thirds from 35 starts. “It (his back) started seizing up and got worse over night.

“I went to the doctor and he said that my spine was out of whack which led to back spasms.

“I think I may have to take a few days off to clear it up.”

MacDonell, who has 3,381 career wins to his credit, is well aware of the ill timing for such an instance to occur.

“It’s sure a bad time for it to happen,” noted the Orono resident. “I’m going to go back to the doctor (on Wednesday) for some more answers.”
