American Ideal to race as 4-year-old; Blue Chip purchases 50% interest

Blue Chip Farms announced that it has purchased a 50% ownership interest in American Ideal. Tom Grossman, owner of Blue Chip, states “we wanted to bring the fastest 3 year old of all time and son of Western Ideal to New York State and look forward to our new partnership with Brittany Stallion Management” The original owners, Mac Nichol and Brittany Farms, will each retain an ownership interest in the horse.

The farm together with its partners and original owners, have decided to race American Ideal as a four year old. American Ideal, with a record of 1.47.4M, earned over $800,000 and won 10 races last year including the Confederation Cup, Tattersalls Pace, as well as divisions of the Bluegrass Stakes and Oliver Wendel Holmes.

Blue Chip Farms states that American Ideal will retire after the 2006 racing season to its facility located in Wallkill, NY to stand at stud under Brittany Stallion Management. American Ideal will join Blue Chip’s stud barn that currently includes Art Major, Bettor’s Delight, Credit Winner, Sealed N Delivered, Sir Taurus and Lislea. All resulting foals will be eligible to race in the lucrative New York Sire Stakes with enhanced purses from slot machines.
