Ann Other Porsche wins Dover feature

Dover, DE — Ann Other Porsche, who has been knocking in recent weeks, finally made the winner’s circle, winning the $20,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace at Dover Downs on Tuesday, February 10. Brad Hanners won four races.

Ann Other Porsche holds off Crossfire N to win Tuesday’s feature at Dover.

Jim Morand took the Down Under import right to the front, then backed off a :572 half before rolling down the lane in :282 to hold off fast finishing Crossfire N (Mike Cole), last week’s event winner, and Rain Dance Kim (Travis Bowman) at the wire. The victory was the first in 2004 for the seven-year-old owned by Niss Allen Inc., who doubled her seasonal earnings to $20,000.

Hugs Fanci rallies in the lane to score in the Mares Winners Over Pace.

In the sub-featured $15,500 Mares Winners Over Pace, Hugs Fanci, owned by John Sixt and Judy Blaun, was the first of Brad Hanners’ four winning drives. The five-year-old On The Road Again mare closed well to outlast Jett Away (Bret Brittingham) in a 1:541 mile. Love That Hall (George Dennis) was third. The win by Hugs Fanci, a former New York Sires Stakes performer, brings her career earnings to $226,267.

Elmer Fannin’s fashionably bred Silky Nuke scored her second straight, a 1:564 victory with Eddie Davis, Jr. in the bike, to take an $11,300 Delaware Pace. Ima Ticket Too (George Dennis) was a half length behind with Heart Escape (Brewer Adams) the third finisher.

The day’s top trot carried a $10,000 purse and was won by Kim Book’s Meadowagogo and driver Eddie Davis in easy fashion with a 1:571 effort. Primo Rager (Brad Hanners) from post eight finished second. TC Express (Kevin Sizer) was third.

Tom Lazzaro and Dennis Silva’s TSM T-Bone was another Brad Hanners winner in 1:55, taking a $15,000 claiming pace. Daddy Daddy Daddy (Jim Morand) was second with Dance N Drive (Travis Bowman) third.

Costly Legs, owned by Steve Warrington and Rebecca Pitre, scored her second pari-mutuel win in three starts as Herve Filion guided the three-year-old filly to a 1:574 triumph in a $7,200 Delaware Pace. Gemini Jarred (George Teague, Jr.) finished second in front of My Littlepromise (Kevin Sizer).

Monday through Thursday post time at Dover Downs is 4:30.There is no live racing on Fridays. There will be no live racing for one week starting Saturday, February 14. Live racing returns on Saturday, February 21. Saturday and Sunday racing starts at 5:30 p.m. There is no charge for parking or admission.
