Scarborough, ME — Another Lindy closed out a storybook career in storybook fashion, going out a winner in his final start on Sunday (Dec. 27) at Scarborough Downs.

The 14-year-old veteran, who faces mandatory retirement at the conclusion of the 2009 season, posted one of his strongest years, claiming victory nine times. Final tally for the classy campaigner: 63 wins from 137 lifetime starts, with career earnings in excess of $315,000.

“Words cannot adequately describe what we witnessed here at Scarborough Downs this afternoon,” said track announcer Mike Sweeney. “It can only be fitting for a great horse like Another Lindy to go out on top. It’s been an incredible privilege to watch this horse race over the years here in Maine.”

Another Lindy is owned and trained by Richard Bartlett of Windsor, Maine, and was driven to his final victory by Leigh Fitch.

Scarborough Downs concluded its 2009 race meet on Sunday. The track will race two days in January 2010, Saturday, Jan. 2, and Sunday, Jan. 3, with post time at 12:05 p.m.
