Arizona Liar in 1:51.2, equals national season’s mark

HARRINGTON, Del. – Rojan Stables and Doc and Me Inc’s Arizona Liar won the $18,500 Open at Harrington Raceway in a sizzling a 1:51.2 Monday, equaling the season’s mark for a half-mile track. Arizona Liar, a 6-year-old Arizona Jack stallion, and driver Mike Cole sat behind pacesetting Pedone (George Dennis), who set fractions of 27.1, 56.1, and 1:23.2.

“Liar,” then gained ground on the game Pedone in the stretch to edge clear for the win. Ashlee’s Big Guy finished third. It was Arizona Liar’s third consecutive win for trainer Chuck Crissman Jr.

In the $16,500 Delaware Special MJ Racing and George and Tina Dennis’ Bramalea Road won his second straight race in 1:53.1. The 8-year-old Abercrombie gelding and trainer/driver George Dennis commanded the front end for the second consecutive week, setting fractions of 27.4, 57.2, 1:26 while holding off pocket sitter Dreamfair Titan, who finished second and first-over Dream Wave, who was third.

Also on the undercard were three winners-over events, as Lauren Allen’s Canaco Le Noblet (1:54.2) won the first, under the guidance of a crafty drive from Ross Wolfenden.

Kenny and Betsy Wood’s Evrybodyplaysafool (Eddie Davis Jr., 1:53.3) received a perfect trip and took the second division.

In the third division, Alton Lynch Sr’s Shotaway N was victorious in 1:53.2 with driver Steve Warrington at the helm.

Harness the Power and KDK Standardbreds’ Goin to the Beach (Brad Hanners) blazed to a 1:52.2 win in a $40,000 claiming event.

The draw for Monday June 20th’s $135,000 First State Free-for-All will be held Wednesday, as eight of the sport’s top aged pacers are expected for the event.
