Armbro Damien stretches win streak to six in PASS

by Jim Beviglia, Publicity Assistant, Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs

Dave Palone drove Armbro Damien to his sixth consecutive win to highlight Pennsylvania Sire Stakes action for three-year-old colts and geldings at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on Friday afternoon.

Armbro Damien, trained by Robert McIntosh, outdueled Sandro Hanover as the two were several lengths ahead of the field at the wire. Disco Dragon finished third. Armbro Damien’s time of 1:50:3 for the mile was the fastest of the four divisions that were held.

Sand Gogh put together a big effort to win a division in 1:50:4. Driven by Tony Hall and trained by Tye Loy, the colt took the lead on the back stretch and had enough in the home stretch to hold off hard-charging Keystone Eli, who was second, and Carr’s Character, who was third. Sand Gogh is now 2-for-2 in sire stakes competition this year.

Sea Dragon found the rail to his liking in winning the third division in 1:52:4. The son of Dragon Again was well-rated on the lead by David Miller and had plenty left late. Master The Art was second and Up Front Danny Boy third. Sea Dragon is trained by Chris Ryder.

True North Hanover won easily in the last division for his fifth win in seven starts this year. Mike Wilder put True North Hanover, trained by Mickey Burke on the lead and paced away late in 1:52:1. Hamilton was second and Sahara Hall third.
