Dover, DE — Armbro Timothy drew the outside in a field of seven in the $27,500 Open Handicap Trot at Dover Downs on Wednesday, April 4. Two second leg $20,000 DSBF Colt Trot preliminaries and two $17,000 Winners Over Trots are also on the next to last Wednesday card this meet. First post is 5:30 p.m.

After a five-race win streak picked up with another win in his first race since last May, Armbro Timothy, a 10-year-old gelding and winner of $348,071 in his career, finally was beaten two weeks ago, but bounced back last Wednesday with a wire-to-wire 1:55.2 victory with Tony Morgan at the controls. M&M Harness Racing’s Saint Johns Boy and Ross Wolfenden have run off three consecutive second place finishes. Ricky Pryor and Wendy Crissman’s Breeze Hill Will finished third last week in the Open and will be driven by meet leading reinsman Tim Tetrick.

The other contestants in the highly completive field are Ken Wood and Henry King’s Kennywood, handled by Roger Plante, Celtic Hall racing for owners Neal Oksenberg and Ginger Tree Stable with Tim Curtin at the controls, RC Destiny, owner and trained by Tony Poliseno with his brother Carlo Poliseno in the bike, and the fast Armbro Corbin, owned by Alain Durvage, starting from post one with Eddie Davis.

Again this week, two Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) $20,000 Colt Trot prelims will comprise the daily double. In the first race, Fred and Layhoon Brunner’s Swissonian, steered by Tim Tetrick, the DSBF freshman champion, and Nanticoke Racing’s Nanticoke Snazz with Brandon Givens were in a spirited battle last week and along with Pam Wagner’s Penn State Fan and Tony Morgan are the standouts.

Tom O. Lail’s Secret Agent and Eddie Dennis, despite starting from outside post seven, is the one to beat in the second DSBF prelim. Tina Clark, Charles Clark, Jr., and Cantwell Bridge Stable’s Powerful Committee, with Tony Morgan, and JoAnn King’s Master Commando, piloted by Jim King, are the leading contenders.
