Artists Dynasty faces a challenge in Miss Vera Bars

Toronto, ON — She had an easy wire-to-wire trip to the winner’s circle in the C$20,000 opening round of the Miss Vera Bars Pacing Series for 3-year-old fillies last week, but Murray Brethour trainee Artists Dynasty may have her work cut out for her in the second leg on Thursday night (Feb. 5) at Woodbine.

She’ll be up against Casie Coleman pupil Wish All You Want, a precocious brown daughter of Western Terror who has never been worse than third in her short career. In four starts, Wish All You Want has racked up two wins — most recently in a C$19,000 conditioned event on January 29 at Woodbine — a second, and a third, and already has put $20,036 in the coffers for owners Mike Lindley, Steve Calhoun, and the West Wins Stable.

Artists Dynasty has more mileage under her belt with a record of 3-2-1 in nine starts, which gives her the edge in the morning line, where she’s rated at 8-5. But Wish All You Want is being given serious respect at 2-1. She’ll be leaving from post six in the short field of seven fillies, in the second of the two Miss Vera Bars splits on February 5 (race three, post time 8:08 p.m.).

Brethour’s Mylittlerebel, who also cruised unchallenged to a win in the series opener last week, looks to be the dominant force going into the first Miss Vera Bars event on the same night (race one, post time 7:30 p.m.). She’s been rated the 4-5 favorite in a field of six sophomore lasses.

The C$45,000 (est.) final of the Miss Vera Bars Pacing Series goes postward on Thursday, February 12.
