Artoonist (7), driven by Cat Manzi and trained by Peter Walsh, scored a half-length victory over Theresa Hall in the the first of two Jersey Girls divisions.

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – March 16, 2005 – Artoonist and Follow Your Bliss each won a $20,000 opening round division of the Jersey Girls Series on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands.

Artoonist [$26.00, $8.60, $7.00], driven by Cat Manzi and trained by Peter Walsh, scored a half-length victory over Theresa Hall [$5.40, $4.20] in the second race, the first of two divisions. Queen Of The Ball [$4.40] was third in a four-horse photo finish.

Artoonist, a four-year-old daughter of Artsplace, owned by Southwind Farm of Pennington, New Jersey, improved her record to one win, one second and four thirds from eight starts this year and paced the mile in a lifetime best of 1:53 flat.

Follow Your Bliss (1) found room up the pylons and won by a neck over 3-5 favorite Queen OTR in the 2nd division of the Jersey Girls.

In the third race, the second division, Follow Your Bliss [$8.80, $2.40, $2.20], driven by Jim Morrill and trained by Mark Silva, found room up the pylons and won by a neck over 3-5 favorite Queen OTRA [$2.10, $2.20]. Wilma Hall [$2.60] was third by two and three-quarter lengths.

Follow Your Bliss, racing for Serge Masse and Joseph Lin of Alberta, now has three wins and four seconds in seven starts this year. The daughter of Blissfull Hall covered the mile in 1:53.

The Jersey Girls Series continues next week with a final worth $60,000 on March 30.
