B Intensified equals track mark in NYSS at Monticello

Monticello, NY — When B Intensified reached the three-quarter marker in 1:29.1 not a soul at Monticello Raceway was thinking track record, but the daughter of Art Major-B Electrified began to accelerate so quickly in the final turn that when she crossed the finish line and the timer flashed 1:56.4 it equaled the track mark for freshmen pacing fillies set by Chi Chi Girl in 1995.

B Intensified poured on a :27.3 final quarter in her 1:56.4 track record equaling performance for Jason Bartlett.

Driver Jason Bartlett had the filly on the front end throughout the mile and when she kicked in a :27.3 final quarter she finished some two lengths ahead of Witch Is Bettor, driven by Kyle DiBenedetto, to cop the sixth division of the $209,000 New York Sire Stakes for 2-year-old pacing fillies at the Mighty M on Wednesday, July 16.

Co-owners David Sheib and Ira Kaplan were joined in the winner’s circle for the presentation by trainer and co-owner Bernie Ban and all were incredulous of the clocking of their filly, especially the final quarter.

“I looked at the timer when she (B Intensified) was passing the fountain (located in the infield near the finish line) and it was at 1:54 and I wondered how could it take her five seconds to finish from there when she was only a couple of hundred feet from the finish line,” said Sheib. “I can’t believe she paced a :27.2 quarter on the end of that mile. Wow, were we surprised.”

The victory was the second of the afternoon in Sire Stakes action for the talented Jason Bartlett. His first triumph came in the first race on the card when he guided Ken Jacobs’ Perfect Launch to a six length triumph in a time of 1:59.1.

The daughter of Riverboat King-Cambridge United, trained by Linda Toscano, cruised home an easy winner over Rising Sun (Jimmy Morrill, Jr.) and Hollywood Encore (Jordan Stratton).

In the winner’s circle owner Ken Jacobs asked driver Bartlett how the filly was to which the latter replied, “She has a fast motor in her and she’s easy to handle.”

Odds on favorite Stolly Up Bluechip also made a laugher out of her $30,194 division when Stephane Bouchard guided the Art Major-Stasia’s Girl filly to an easy three length, 1:58.2 victory over Kentucky Charm (David Miller) and Carter T (Jordan Stratton).

“She’s not very big but she can sure pace. I never even pulled the (ear) plugs and I was on the brakes at the end (of the mile),” Bouchard said after this driving victory.

Stolly Up Bluechip is the property of Frank Dettore and is trained by Mark Ford.

Bouchard also won another NYSS split when he reined JK Saphire to a one length victory in a time of 2:00.1 over Queens Gold and driver Jimmy Morrill, Jr. Third place went to Chesca Girl and driver Jordan Stratton. Another pupil of trainer Linda Toscano, JK Saphire is owned by the 3 Brothers Stable.

Jimmy Morrill, Jr. also scored a NYSS victory when he hustled the big Art Major-Precious Beauty filly Incredible Beauty to a come-from-behind (she was 11 lengths off at the quarter pole), one length triumph over Regina Equorum and driver Stephane Bouchard. Perfect Wave, driven by Jason Bartlett, took home the show dough in that split.

The Eddie Lohmeyer-trained, Bob and Lauren Tucker-owned Indulge Me just toyed with her competition in another NYSS division when Jeff Gregory drove the Bettor’s Delight-Summer Child filly to an oh-so-easy 1:59.1 victory over Six Of Hearts and driver Howie Okusko, Jr. All American Caress finished third for Sam Schillaci.

A final NYSS split saw Market Dynamics, a Billy Popfinger-trained daughter of Pro Bono Best-Go Abby Go, score an easy one length victory for driver David Miller in a time of 1:59. Sent off as the odds-on favorite, Market Dynamics remained undefeated and scored her third consecutive triumph for the Popfinger-Miller connection. She turned back Eagle Way (Stephane Bouchard) and Betrina (Jimmy Morrill, Jr.) en route to victory.

Market Dynamics, a $5,000 yearling purchase, has already bankrolled over $40,000 in 2008. She’s co-owned by Popfinger and Alan Wolnek.
