Monticello, NY — Bacon Hill Dannie made it two-for-two at Monticello Raceway after she scored a victory in the track’s $10,200 Mares Preferred Pace on Monday afternoon, December 17.

The 5-year-old Dragon Again mare won her previous start here on November 20, but that was against a field of non-winners of $400 per start. In the interim, Bacon Hill Dannie finished second on November 28 and December 7, both times in races at Yonkers Raceway.

Jimmy Marohn, Jr. and Bacon Hill Dannie won the featured Mares Preferred Pace in 1:59.1.

At the Mighty M on December 17, Jimmy Marohn, Jr. got the driving assignment from trainer Steven Moore and the talented son of veteran reinsman Jimmy Marohn made the best of it when he sent Bacon Hill Dannie to the lead and took no prisoners en route to a 1:59.1, gate-to-wire triumph over Patty Ben Beau and driver Stephane Bouchard. Third place went to Lazy Running N, driven by Jordan “the Kid” Stratton.

For Bacon Hill Dannie, it was her fourth victory of the season and best yet, especially since she competed against the best pacing mares on the grounds. Last week’s winner in this class, Natural Woman N (Jimmy Devaux), never got untracked and finished sixth.

Owned by Ben Versaci, Bacon Hill Dannie paid $18.80 for win.

Just 25 years of age, Jimmy Marohn, Jr.’s star is rising and he is destined to be among the top reinsmen in the future. Already the diminutive reinsman has won driving titles at other race tracks where he has competed and his victory on Monday was his 33rd here at the Mighty M and 103rd overall this season.

However, last year the youngster won 191 races, and the year prior he notched 204 driving victories. Since 2003, Jimmy Marohn, Jr. has won over 700 races, all as a catch-driver.
